more cups and teapots!

last friday, the multimedia and journalism classes went to murray state for some workshops.

during some free time, i discovered a really cool art exhibit. i didn't think to write down names, but i got some quick shots for art class.

each cup or teapot was made too look like it was made of metal, wood, and electrical wire. it reminded me a lot of my cup and teapot. :)

I've been working on this painting in art for awhile and I couldn't really figure out what I wanted to paint after I got finished with the background. My friend suggested a flower, so I tried to paint a flower. That idea didn't work out very well, so I painted over it. After a taking a test over the Scarlet Letter in my previous class, I decided to paint the cover of the book. It's pretty awesome. I'm excited to see how to comes out.

Saturday after working, some of my friends and I decided  to hit up Etcetera's that night. Of course, I got the usual smores bar and hot mocha. Too much chocolate for this little lady, but oh well. It's oh so delicious. I checked out some of the art work there since we might have a show there this year. Tilghman was having a show there and I saw one students art that was pretty neat. It was from her 2D portfolio and it was just close up pictures of candy where you couldn't really tell what kind of candy it was, but you still knew it was candy. It was pretty neat looking.

i'm excited to get to second block today, so i can continue working on my OCTOPUS COFFEE CUP. i love love love love working with clay!

At the Yeiser Art Center-

A sense of mystery is inherent in an exhibition of paintings by Anne Bagby and prints by Christina Bartsch at the Yeiser Art Center. Bagby’s paintings explore the relationships we have with the world and with ourselves and with who we want the world to think we are. Bartsch’s etchings are about socialization of children and the process involved when young children are becoming aware of society and learning how they are expected to behave.
Working in structured formats, Bartsch juxtaposes graphically drawn objects using bold lines beside organic, imaginary space.
Bagby’s paintings play with the boundaries between design and texture.

The Art Club has also gotten national recognition and is now affiliated with the National Honors Art Society.  Get those posters up advertising your position for officers!!!

cups!

we started working on making our cups in art. i'm soo excited. i'm making a cup to match my teapot.

Today, while sitting in the most boring and most ridiculous class ever I noticed that the cover of the book that I'm being forced to read is very interesting. Instead of listening to the nonsense I have to listen to every other day, I decided to draw it. It turned out to be super fly. Also, when I was finshed and STILL didn't want to listen, I decided to sketch my future home from a house I explored this previous weekend. It was very small, and quaint. Then I realized that Hubert (The guy that lived in the house) didn't have any bathrooms or big enough closets to hold half of my clothes. So, planning my future home is on hold right now until I figure out how to fit in a big closet and bathrooms into Hubert's house plans.
